- 1996
- Our first Biblical Ballot Measures Voters Guide.
- 1994
- We successfully targeted a dozen races, and helped elect pro-family
candidates to State office. In spite of all predictions to the contrary,
we again increased the conservative hold on the Oregon House and for
the first time in decades, helped the Republican party gain control of
the Senate.
- 1993
- We were asked by a group of legislators to help them introduce and
lobby for the passage of an abstinence education bill, which passed, in
spite of strong opposition from liberals all the way from the ACLU to
the lesbians. We also did preliminary work setting the stage for planned
legislative efforts in 1995 to make sure Oregon's version of OBE won't
negatively impact home or private schools.
- 1992
- We successfully were at work again helping elect pro-family candidates
to State office. We strengthened the conservative hold on the Oregon
House and for the first time in decades, moved the Senate within
striking distance of pro-freedom forces as well.
- 1991
- Working through the Legislature that we had helped to elect in 1984,
1986, 1988, and 1990, we turned up the heat on Governor Roberts, got
her to see the light, and she pressured the Board to see things our
way. After the smoke had cleared, we not only had fought off the State
Board's attacks, we actually pressured the Board into giving us even
more freedom!! Praise be to God!
- 1990
- The Oregon State Board of Education moved to try to severely restrict
educational freedom. In response, we led a successful attempt to raise
a public outcry and then elected pro-home school candidates who would
help us fight the Board in the Legislature. We also proved a major
factor in the successful effort to gain Republican control of the
House for the first time in years.
- 1989
- We successfully and easily defeated an attempt on the part of the
OSBA (Oregon School Board Association) to force both private and home
schoolers to teach ELS (Essential Learning Skills), which was the
precursor to OBE (Outcome Based Education) in Oregon.
- 1988
- We successfully helped to elect a number of pro-family candidates,
significantly adding to the growing number of pro-family Oregon
legislators.
- 1987
- We successfully turned back an attempt on the part of COSA
(Confederation of Oregon School Administrators) to repeal our 1985 Bill.
- 1986
- We successfully endorsed and helped in the election of a number of
pro-family and pro-home school legislators.
- 1985
- We successfully introduced and lobbied for the passage of what became
known as the 1985 Home School Freedom Bill. Overnight, Oregon's home
school law moved from one of worst to one of the best in the country.
- 1984
- We targeted and successfully defeated the head of the House Education
Committee, known to be unfavorable to home school freedom.
- 1983
- In response to an intolerable lack of Christian freedom to home
school in Oregon, the Parents Education Association was started. It
was a parents alternative to the NEA, the teachers union known as the
National Education Association, which has wreaked such havoc in our
nation.
