God’s Health Care Law

Dt 7:15 And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you.

So, all sixty Democrat Senators are meeting with President Obama today, in an effort to put the final touches on a massive health care bill. The Lord tells us in the Bible how to bring down health care costs. The mechanism is obedience to the Lord who is the sovereign and blessed controller of all aspects of reality.

Dt. 7:15 (and many other parallel passages) are directed to a nation. When that nation obeys, in the aggregate, its amount of illness and disease will decline, meaning less resources will need to be expended to fight sickness. Obviously, this is not a promise of good health to every last person who trusts and obeys Jesus. Many good and pious men and women have health problems. But the nation that obeys will become increasingly healthier, and the nation that sins will become increasingly sicker.

But what our federal government is on the verge of doing is to institutionalize an attempted indemnification of disobedience. We want a risk free world in which we can, for instance, do whatever we like with out God-given sexuality and have the government force health insurers to cover us at the same rates that they cover those who are obedient.

Of course, such protections for sexual rebels have been in place on a state-wide level for some time. But now the nation will put itself on record as nationally insuring blatant sexual rebels, trying to nationally mitigate God’s just judgments.

This is, obviously, a futile attempt. Health care cots will continue to increase even as we try to insure against the results of sin. Obedient Christians will increasingly find themselves forced into insured groups that include ethical rebels. Insurers who try to glorify God in their business will find themselves without the freedom to engage in sound business practices that are based on the Word of God.

This is as it should be. Ultimately, as Pogo said, we have met the enemy and he is us. This country is still predominantly Christian, but it has a Christianity that no longer has much use for Deuteronomy, and that is content to be a side dish to the secular meal in the center of the table. God wants us to repent, and His judgments are always corrective for His people. May we hear and respond with a clear Christian word into this ongoing national discussion of health care and its costs.

Amen, brother! Actually, I've converted my business to a Biblical-based model just this year. My employees (I hire only believers, of course) and myself have had a particularly righteous year ethically, so I just cancelled my employees' health insurance coverage. Praise be to God, whose omnipotent hand shall sustain all them and their small children!

This is the solution to our health care crisis. We all ultimately turn to God during times of crisis. This will create a propagating, everlasting, taxable income stream that will create jobs, pay for socialized health care and rebuild social security.
